Greens Unpasteurised Cheddar - Reviews

Greens Unpasteurised Cheddar

Milk from the Green family farm in West Pennard at the foot of Glastonbury Tor is used to make this traditional cheddar cheese. It is hard, quite dry with a strong flavour and quite sharp tang.

A bit too strong for me - but would have been great for cooking!

When first opened I loved it but a few days later found it a bit tangy and full flavoured for my taste.

Gutsy flavour - not nearly as subtle as some of the other cheddars, but appealing all the same.

Strong - but with a wonderful taste.

Leaves a nice taste in the mouth. Certainly better than 'normal' cheddar.

Disappointingly like a factory cheddar: oily surface, more waxy than crumbly, average flavour with little of a good cheddar's mouth-filling aroma. We compared it with Longman's half-fat cheddar, of all things, and the half-fat was much more characterful and appealing! Puzzling.
