Menallack Vintage - Reviews

Menallack Vintage

This farmhouse cheese is made at Menallack Farm and matured for a minimum of three months to satisfy the connoisseur's need for a real taste of the past. Gutsy, firm and very tasty.

Preferred this to the young and bland Menallack. Agreeably mature, not too strong.

It grew on me. First of all it seemed a bit bland or perhaps too subtle, but repeated tastings brought more appreciation. Lovely texture, excellent with fruit.

Lively on the tongue, strong and tangy, for real cheddar lovers.

Probably the best cheese I have ever eaten.

We disagreed with "gutsy" which we would use to describe Lincolnshire Poacher (our local hard 'chedder')but it does have a long, lingering aftertaste. Adjectives such as 'acid' and 'eggy consistency' were used by our friends.
