Yarg - Reviews

Yarg

A light, creamy, semi-hard cheese whose unique character and taste result from being wrapped in nettle leaves. This traditional method of coating survives only in Cornwall. Yarg is made by hand with vegetarian rennet and pasteurised cows' milk.

A great cheese that didn't fail to disappoint.

BLAND BUT SOFT TASTING. NOT A STRONG TASTE ON THE TONGUE.

Once I overcame the nettles I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gentle saltyness - nice in a salad.

Very good. I am disappointed to find a cheese in this selection which I can and do buy in a supermarket. Not what I expected from you.

Kath's comments: You will notice that I do list and supply some cheeses which can be found in supermarkets, including Yarg. I find that many customers like to purchase cheeses with which they are familiar and as such I bow to consumer pressure every now and then and include one in the monthly selection. However, I always try to include more unusual artisan cheeses and am constantly on the look out for something new.

I actually don't like the texture of Caerphilly, but this was good and the added flavour complemented the cheese beautifully.

Yarg is always a winner. The one with garlic leaves is even better.

This one is always a winner for us. Good taste and texture and the nettles are a talking point with the children every time we have it. Really good.
