Charles Martell, Gloucestershire
Charles Martell is not only passionate about cheese but also about Gloucestershire cattle. Since arriving at Laurel Farm in 1972 he has worked as Patron of the GLoucestershire Cattle Society to promote the breed with some success. Making cheese started as a method of promoting the breed.
Charles and his son not only make single and double Gloucxerster but the now famous Stinking Bishop. The latter rind washed is often seen as an acquired taste but recent publicity surrounding its inclusion in the latest Wallace an Gromitt animated film could bring it to a whole new audience!
