Godminster Vintage, Somerset

There have been dairy cows grazing on the fertile pastures of Godminster, in Somerset, for over a hundred years. Godminster Vintage Organic Cheddar, their flagship product, is unusually creamy and made from milk from their own organic dairy herd. Using a 70 year old recipe, the cheese is allowed to mature for at least twelve months before being coated in a distinctive purple wax (which also helps to maintain its creamy texture).

The cheese is actually made at Wyke Farm, the coating is done by Ashley Chase and the finished article is then dispatched from Bruton itself, not far from the farm.

The farm also grows beetroot and apples in the orchards so Godminster have produced an innovative product range using these items including flavoured vodka and yummy relishes and biscuits.
